Cosmos (in deep 6-packs)
Just like Zinnias, our specialty varieties of Cosmos are incredibly happy flowers, easily blooming on and on and ON through summer, right up to frost. The secret is to cut long stems every chance you get or deadhead regularly to keep flowers going.
This year we have our two favorite classic whites PLUS three gorgeous NEW blush, apricot and rose varieties:
‘Fizzy White’ - Fantastic white blooms lots of unique tufted centers. 40-50”
‘Afternoon White’- Bred specifically for cut flower production, with more substantive flowers and stems, producing 2-4” blooms on strong, straight stems. Earlier to flower. 36-48”
‘Apricotta’ - Delicate blush, apricot and rose blooms on vigorous, densely branching plants. An improvement over ‘Apricot Lemonade’. 36-38”
‘Versailles Blush’ - Developed especially for cutting! Blooms are 2 1/2” in the palest, blush pink. Strong, straight stems. Early blooming. 40-48”
Xsenia’ - New terracotta rose color, fades to a warm antique rose. More compact than our other cut flower Cosmos but very worth growing for its beautiful and tidy flowers. 24-28”
TO GROW
When plants are about 12” tall, cut off the top few inches of the growing stems, right above a leaf node. This causes the plants to branch, which creates SO many more stems and blooms.
Space plants 6-12” apart in full sun.
