NEW! Bush Clematis 'Rain Dance' (gallon pot)

$22.00
SOLD OUT

We’re so, so, SO excited to have this fabulous NEW addition to our Cutting Garden Collection! Clematis flowers are so stunning in bouquets and statement arrangements, but the long tangled vines are a TERROR to harvest.

‘Rain Dance’ is a brand NEW cross between two clematis species, resulting in a MUCH more compact non-vining clematis, around 40” tall, whose gorgeous long stems are a CINCH to harvest! Incredibly large (2½-3"), outward facing indigo blue flowers with darker midribs and lighter margins are equally joyous in garden beds and bouquets.

Our large plants will produce a few smaller blooms this year and then be covered in blooms next year and every year after, from late spring through through early- and into mid-summer, with sporadic blooms into fall. It will die back completely to the ground in winter.

TO GROW

Carefully transplant — burying the first set of leaves — in full sun to light shade. Space 30” apart. Water well at planting. Although it’s a non-vining Clematis, bush clematis a bit of support, either from staking, a garden obelisk, tomato cage or from neighboring plants. We’ve already added a teepee of 3’ bamboo stakes to get you started.

When you transplant your clematis, reposition the bamboo poles 4-6” out, to give the plant room to spread out this year.
