NEW! Classic Cutting Garden Dahlias (gallon pots)

$15.00
SOLD OUT

Not to be confused with short bedding varieties, our BIG LUSCIOUS cut-flower dahlias product armloads of brilliant long-stemmed blooms from mid-summer to frost — and our ready-to-transplant gallon-size plants give you a JUMP START on blooms this year!

We pre-started these dahlias from #1 size tuber clumps, which will produce LOTS of flowers on long, strong stems. We selected these varieties to add to our own dahlia field this year because they’re the colors our florists can’t get enough of!

  • ‘Preference’ - Stunning 4-6” semi-cactus flowers in pale peach with coral undertones. Looks fantastic with neutral and warm palettes.

  • ‘American Dawn’ - Bred for its amazing color, sturdy stems and abundance flower production. Unique 4-5” blooms with plum centers and reverse petals; dark foliage.

  • ‘Sam Hopkins’ - Profuse and showy deep merlot 4-6” flowers on long stems with lush dark green foliage. Remains upright even in rain.

  • ‘Boom Boom White’ - Large plants with creamy 4-6” white ball-shaped flowers on tall stems. Really shines in bouquets!

  • ‘Belle of Barmera’ dinner plate - Magnificent peach-centered coral-raspberry blooms are show stoppers! Large plants produce lots of long, strong stems.

  • ‘Mingus Alex’ dinner plate - Described as a “red ruffle explosion” growing on taller than average plants. Great flowers with REAL impact.

TO GROW

Dahlias are sun lovers and bloom best with 8 hours of full sun (some afternoon shade is also OK). Carefully transplant at the same depth as they are in the gallon pot. Space 18-24” apart. Be sure to add a strong stake when you plant.

When plants are 12” tall, cut the main growing stems back by 4”, right above a leaf node (yes, even if there’s a bud on the stem!). This way your plants branch out and produce A LOT more blooms! Water deeply 2-3 times a week and fertilize with a fertilizer that promotes flower blooms every 2-3 weeks.

Ht: 36-48”
